PrestaSignal
The honest comparison

PrestaSignal vs Stape, Addingwell, JENTIS, Elevar & TAGGRS

Server-side tracking is not a one-vendor market — several of the tools below are excellent, and one of them may fit you better than we do. So here is the comparison we would want to read ourselves: every factual claim linked to its source, each competitor’s strengths stated first, and our own limits spelled out in their own section.

Where PrestaSignal actually stands

PrestaSignal is the only turnkey, done-for-you server-side tracking built for PrestaShop. That is a narrower claim than it sounds — and it is exactly the one we can defend. The alternatives below are either kits you assemble (Stape, TAGGRS and Addingwell host the container; you or your agency still build and maintain every tag), platforms for other shops (Elevar is Shopify-first), or enterprise products behind a sales cycle (JENTIS).

With PrestaSignal, one vendor supplies the whole chain: the PrestaShop module (1.7 → 9), the managed tracking server we run, and the pre-built GA4, Google Ads and Meta tags — with each sale reported by your shop’s back office, counted exactly once, and refunds matched so revenue reverses correctly. You install a ZIP and paste a license key; we do the rest. And if you would rather assemble it yourself for less money, we name the better option below.

The alternatives

Each alternative, strengths first

No grid does a competitor justice. Here is what each one genuinely does better than us — and where the difference really lies.

The self-serve giant

Stape

What they do better

Stape is the market leader in server-side GTM hosting — 200,000+ customers, by its own count — with a free tier, Pro hosting from $17/mo billed yearly for up to 500K requests a month — every incoming hit counts, including script loads, though a hit fanning out to several platforms counts once; heavier stores step up to Business at $83/mo for 5M, and the optional per-platform Gateways are separate, separately priced products — and the broadest ecosystem of tag templates, per-CMS modules and documentation in the space. It is also the one competitor with a real PrestaShop story: a paid module that pushes a 9-event ecommerce dataLayer and can send purchase and refund webhooks server-side. If you are comfortable building and maintaining your own GTM containers, Stape is excellent — and cheaper than us.

Where we differ

Stape hosts; it does not configure. The module is bought separately on the PrestaShop Addons marketplace, the first-party domain is yours to set up, and every GA4, Google Ads and Meta tag must be built and maintained by you or your agency — in both containers. On the money path, Stape’s own documentation notes that its PrestaShop webhooks “lack cookie data”: the order arrives, but without the session context that ties it to the click that paid for it. PrestaSignal is one vendor for the whole chain — module, managed tracking server, pre-built tags — with each purchase counted exactly once, refunds matched, and money events that keep their session and consent context.

EU infrastructure for agencies

Addingwell

What they do better

Addingwell — now part of consent-platform Didomi — runs managed multi-region EU infrastructure with real-time tag-health monitoring and alerting, serves Google’s script libraries first-party through its own CDN, and brings a 200+ agency partner network. Since the acquisition, its consent-management integration goes deeper than anything we attempt. Entry is free up to 100K requests a month, then €90/mo.

Where we differ

For a PrestaShop merchant the gap is practical: Addingwell’s only PrestaShop-specific code is an open-source cookie module — no ecommerce dataLayer, no purchase reported from the shop’s back office, no pre-built destination tags. Its turnkey story is Shopify; on PrestaShop, everything beyond hosting is developer or agency work. We also do not match its monitoring product or multi-region redundancy — that is a real Addingwell strength, not a tie.

The enterprise platform

JENTIS

What they do better

JENTIS is a different class of product: a full server-side data-capture platform with patented Twin Server technology, 50+ certified connectors, raw-data access and governance tooling built for legal and DPO teams in regulated industries. If compliance depth drives your purchase, JENTIS belongs on the shortlist — we do not claim to match its data-governance or enterprise controls.

Where we differ

JENTIS is sales-led: quote-only pricing, no self-serve signup, and no PrestaShop module on its connector list. PrestaSignal is the opposite shape — install a ZIP, paste a license key, tracking live, priced for a PrestaShop store. Different buyers, honestly: if your legal team is leading the evaluation, start there, not here.

Shopify’s benchmark

Elevar

What they do better

Elevar — now Audiense Online — is the best-known server-side tracking product for Shopify DTC brands: purchases delivered by Shopify order webhooks with a 99%+ order-accuracy claim, identity resolution that recognises returning visitors for up to a year, automated accuracy monitoring, and 50+ destinations. Its architecture also validates ours: the Shopify market leader records purchases from the shop’s backend, not the browser.

Where we differ

Elevar does not exist for PrestaShop. Shopify is the certified path; other platforms are reachable only through its API framework on the $1,250+/mo tiers, and entry on Shopify is $225/mo. We claim no parity with Elevar’s identity graph or monitoring suite — we claim PrestaShop, which Elevar does not serve, at a price a PrestaShop store can carry.

The budget option

TAGGRS

What they do better

TAGGRS is the cheapest way into server-side tagging: a free tier, Basic at €22/mo billed yearly, and a real PrestaShop dataLayer module — 7 ecommerce events, installed from the Addons marketplace with no code changes. If price is the deciding criterion, TAGGRS wins it, plainly.

Where we differ

The money path is the gap. TAGGRS’s documented PrestaShop purchase is a browser dataLayer push — no back-office webhook, no exactly-once counting, no refund event — so a blocked or abandoned confirmation page can still lose the sale. And as with Stape, hosting is the product: GTM containers and destination tags remain your job.

The client-side baseline

Generic GTM modules

What they do better

Client-side GTM modules for PrestaShop — commercial ones like Webkul’s, plus open-source dataLayer projects — are cheaper and simpler than anything else on this page. If all you want is a basic GA4 dataLayer and you are not worried about blockers or Safari, they are enough. Honestly.

Where we differ

Everything runs in the browser and loads from googletagmanager.com — visible to every filter list, subject to Safari’s script-cookie limits, with no server events at all. They solve “get a dataLayer”, not “stop losing sales”. That second problem is the one PrestaSignal exists for.

On the record

What we don’t claim

A comparison page earns trust by what it refuses to say. So, for the record:

  • Server-originated purchases are not unique to us. Stape’s PrestaShop webhooks and Elevar’s Shopify webhooks both do it. Our version is the turnkey one: counted exactly once, refunds matched to the original transaction, and session context kept on the money events — Stape’s own docs concede their webhooks lack cookie data.
  • First-party serving is not unique either. Stape’s Custom Loader and Addingwell’s CDN both do it well. Ours is simply on by default — the module provisions the connector on your domain itself, with nothing extra to assemble.
  • We never promise that blockers are beaten forever. Today’s filter lists target Google’s domains, and we serve everything from yours; blockers evolve, and honest vendors say so.
  • We do not match Addingwell’s monitoring surface, JENTIS’s governance tooling, or Elevar’s identity graph. Those are real products, and pretending parity would not survive your first demo call.
  • We quote no invented loss percentages. No verifiable industry average for blocker-related conversion loss exists — so this page carries only the competitors’ own published numbers, each linked to its source.
Before you decide

Comparison questions, answered.

Is PrestaSignal the cheapest option here?+

No. TAGGRS Basic (€22/mo billed yearly) and Stape Pro ($17/mo billed yearly, up to 500K requests) both cost less — if you build and maintain the containers and tags yourself, or pay an agency to. PrestaSignal’s €69.99/mo includes that work: the module, the managed tracking server, and the pre-built tags, from one vendor.

What does “turnkey” actually mean in this comparison?+

One vendor supplies and maintains every part: the PrestaShop module (1.7 → 9), the connector on your own domain, the managed tracking server, and the GA4, Google Ads and Meta tags. You install a ZIP and paste a license key. With Stape, TAGGRS or Addingwell, hosting is the product and the tag work is yours — that is the difference the word is doing.

Why highlight server-originated purchases if Stape and Elevar have them too?+

Because the differences live in the details. Ours arrive with exactly-once counting, a refund event matched to the original transaction id so GA4 reverses revenue correctly, and session context on the money events. By contrast, Stape’s docs note that their PrestaShop webhooks lack cookie data, and TAGGRS’s documented PrestaShop purchase is a browser push.

Which alternative should I pick if not PrestaSignal?+

Honestly: comfortable running your own GTM and watching costs — Stape. An agency wanting EU infrastructure and monitoring — Addingwell. An enterprise with legal-driven requirements — JENTIS. A Shopify store — Elevar. The tightest budget — TAGGRS. A PrestaShop store that wants tracking done for it — that is us.
